Peter Obi demands better facilities for displaced persons in Sokoto

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has urged the government to urgently enhance living conditions for internally displaced persons at the Ramin Kura IDP Camp in Sokoto State. During his visit on Monday, September 29, Obi expressed his concern over the substandard living conditions of over 1,000 displaced families residing in the camp.

The makeshift shelters and thatched rooms, where some families share a room with up to 10 people, were particularly disheartening for Obi. He also highlighted the lack of basic amenities such as proper toilet facilities, a healthcare center, and a school for children. Obi called for immediate action from the government and relevant agencies to address these pressing issues, while also tackling the security challenges that led to the displacement of families. He stressed that until every Nigerian is housed, the nation remains internally displaced.
