Zverev comeback leads Europe to Laver Cup victory

Alexander Zverev's comeback win over Learner Tien on the final day of the Laver Cup propelled Team Europe to their sixth title. The US Open champion Zverev bounced back from a disappointing loss to Alex de Minaur on the second day and dominated Tien 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 at London's O2 Arena. Following Carlos Alcaraz's crucial performance that kept Europe in contention after their second-day setback, Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik triumphed over De Minaur and Taylor Fritz in doubles to extend their lead.

With these two victories, Europe amassed the requisite 13 points to clinch the championship, rendering Alcaraz's participation unnecessary. Zverev expressed his elation at securing a Laver Cup win after two years without one, crediting the team's chemistry for their success. Debutant Tien, 20, showcased resilience in his Team World debut, holding his ground in the first set to force a tiebreak, but ultimately succumbed to Zverev's superior performance.

Zverev, who has been a mainstay in all six of Team Europe's Laver Cup triumphs, has claimed eight singles victories at the event.
