Zverev comeback leads Europe to Laver Cup victory

Alexander Zverev's final-day victory over Learner Tien proved decisive in Team Europe's sixth Laver Cup triumph. Having lost to Team World's Alex de Minaur on the second day, Zverev bounced back with a commanding 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 win at London's O2 Arena to seal the European victory. Following Carlos Alcaraz's inspirational performance which kept Europe competitive after the day two setback, Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik's doubles victory over De Minaur and Taylor Fritz extended Europe's lead, making Zverev's win the final nail in the coffin.

With this triumph, Alcaraz was relieved of the need to play again, as Team Europe had already met the required 13-point tally to clinch the title. Zverev expressed his elation, stating, "I haven't won a Laver Cup match in two years, so I'm happy I did it today." He praised the team's chemistry, emphasizing the importance of winning as a team in sports.

The 20-year-old Tien, making his Team World debut, showed resilience in the first set, but Zverev dominated the second, closing out the match in one hour and 49 minutes. Zverev, considered the world's top player, holds the record for the most singles wins at the Laver Cup with eight victories.
