OpenAI lanza Dots, agentes de IA para el trabajo y tareas cotidianas

OpenAI unveiled its new family of consumer-focused AI agents called "dots" during its annual developers conference, DevDay. The agents, under the leadership of Sam Altman, are always active and work in the user's cloud computers, assisting with daily tasks and work-related activities. Powered by GPT-6 Astra, the most advanced OpenAI model, each dot can operate its own browser and connected applications.

Users can interact with dots through ChatGPT, web, desktop, and mobile platforms, as well as via Slack, text messages, and Teams. The agents conduct proactive research when idle, using read-only connections to users' tools. Examples include repeating scientific analyses with new data, updating business proposals based on client requirements, and converting interview transcriptions into clips and publications.

OpenAI showcased how one test user's dot noticed an unpaid invoice, prepared and sent the bill upon approval. Dots operate on their own cloud computers while users' computers and content remain separate, unless connected. On initial sign-ups, users can use saved passwords without exposing them to the model. OpenAI introduced their dots with emoticon faces, encouraging users to name and personalize their agents.

The AI firm has begun offering dots in Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise plans for European Economic Area, Switzerland, and United Kingdom markets. However, users in these regions won't receive dots initially. OpenAI also unveiled specialized dots for businesses with their own identities, credentials, and specific workflow responsibilities.

These enterprise dots will begin with pilot programs, and OpenAI is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate them into Agent 365. OpenAI announced the dots shortly after Meta launched its consumer-focused agent, Muse, which has set new app download records and is valued at $2 billion. Both dots and Muse work for users in daily tasks or work-related activities.

Unlike Muse, dots are powered by read-only connections to users' tools and can be accessed via various platforms without the need for a dedicated virtual machine. Other emerging consumer AI agents include Grok Bot from xAI and Instinct, a limited-invitation service available through iMessage, WhatsApp, or a direct call, with investor valuation reaching $2.5 billion.
