Teachers strike: ‘Bring all the input forms and we’re ready to pay’ – CAGD tells GES

The Controller and Accountant-General's Department (CAGD) has pledged to process outstanding promotion-related salary payments for teachers, provided the Ghana Education Service (GES) submits the necessary documentation. Public Relations Officer Cephas Dosu revealed this during an interview on Adom FM. CAGD has already put measures in place, including setting up dedicated teams to handle the task.

They agreed to this arrangement with the Education Ministry and teacher unions during a meeting held on August 31. CAGD has since established dedicated desks to receive the documents and delayed the September payroll process to accommodate these submissions. However, despite this, CAGD has only received fewer than 7,000 completed and authorized input forms, whereas the number of promotions under discussion exceeds 60,000.

The discrepancy has left Dosu questioning where the remaining documents are. He emphasized that CAGD is willing to work towards processing the payments but is currently waiting for GES to submit the outstanding documents. Dosu assured teachers that the department is prepared to process the payments once the required forms are received, promising to pay for September if GES can provide 60,000 input forms.
