KRIDL Engineer Goes Missing After Leaving Note Over Contractor Pressure & Pending Payments In Karnataka

Bengaluru, Sep 28: Assistant Executive Engineer Parvez Dharawad, a 35-year-old engineer with Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL), has gone missing for the past 13 days. He left behind a suicide note expressing his distress over the pressure from contractors and sub-contractors demanding payment for work they had completed.

Parvez, who was posted in Gadag subdivision, wrote the note on September 12 and left his office as usual. He informed his family he had a meeting in Bengaluru and left for the city on the same day. However, by September 13, his family noticed he hadn't called back, and when they searched his office, they found the suicide note and realized he had not attended work for three days.

His colleagues discovered the note and reported the disappearance, leading to a missing person case being registered at Bettageri police station in Karnataka. In the note, Parvez detailed the daily harassment from contractors and sub-contractors at his office and residence, fearing for his mental well-being and family life. He stated that due to the pending government grants, KRIDL had completed work worth over ₹6 crore without payment, and many requests to release the funds had gone unanswered.

Gadag Superintendent of Police Mithun H N clarified that Parvez had not committed suicide but had gone into hiding. Police have located his last known whereabouts at Vijayawada Railway Station, where CCTV footage shows him. For those struggling with similar thoughts, mental health resources are available.
