Malaysia dominated the game, especially in the second half, after Indonesia received a red card to Thom Haye in the 35th minute, leaving them with 10 players.

However, Malaysia failed to capitalize on their chances, with Arif Aiman Hanapi, Bergson da Silva, and Fergus Tierney among those creating chances. Cheng Hoe acknowledged that breaking through Indonesia's defense, even with the numerical advantage, was difficult. He stated that Malaysia could not convert their opportunities into goals despite trying various methods.

The match ended in a point draw for Malaysia, with their coach satisfied with the team's overall performance, particularly their ability to control the match.
