6.32 lakh adults appear for ULLAS literacy assessment in Telangana

On September 28, 2026, an impressive 6.32 lakh adult learners participated in the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) held throughout Telangana. Among these participants, 98,324 were members of self-help groups (SHGs), while 720 were street vendors. The ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) programme, part of the New India Literacy Programme (NILP), aims to offer functional literacy to adults aged 15 and above who did not complete their formal education.

The test was organized by the Adult Education Department, working in coordination with Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women and Child Welfare Minister D. Anasuya Seethakka. The minister encouraged those who passed the ULLAS assessment to take advantage of the opportunity to continue their education through the open-school system, as they are eligible to enroll in Class X via the open-school system.

Admissions to the Telangana Open School Society (TOSS) for the 2026-27 academic year are now open; interested individuals can apply through their nearest MeeSeva centre, TOSS study centre, or online via the TOSS website.
