Police to record statements from former exco members amid Negeri Sembilan royal turmoil

Butterworth, September 27 — Police are set to summon former Negeri Sembilan state executive council (Exco) members beginning tomorrow and the following day to record their statements, in support of the investigation into the administrative and royal institution crisis in the state. Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, disclosed that the police will also gather statements from several witnesses and other pertinent individuals to finalize the investigation.

"Numerous police reports have been filed by certain parties concerning the matter, so we will take necessary action to investigate and subsequently record statements from relevant individuals, including former Exco members and those involved," he stated. So far, the police have summoned several individuals for statement recording, including one or two potential witnesses in the case.

Mohd Khalid discussed the police investigation's various aspects following several police reports lodged regarding the issue. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed that the police are prioritizing the prevention of violence and maintaining public safety and order. Meanwhile, Mohd Khalid mentioned that his team is finalizing the investigation papers for submission to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action.

The police are still reviewing all received reports and may consider cases under the Sedition Act or other legal provisions. The security and public order situation in Negeri Sembilan, according to Mohd Khalid, remains stable and under control, with the community demonstrating good cooperation.
