Kalonzo heads to Bondo as he seeks to woo Raila’s Nyanza support base

Wiper Patriotic Front head Kalonzo Musyoka has journeyed to Bondo, Siaya County, in a bid to bolster his support among Raila Odinga's Nyanza constituents ahead of the 2027 General Election. In a post on his X account, Kalonzo proclaimed, "Today we are in Bondo, Baba's home. We come home with great strength." He is set to partake in a "Meet the People" tour, culminating in a visit to St Michael's All Angels Cathedral Church.

This initiative is part of a broader Western and Nyanza mobilisation campaign organized by the former Vice President, aimed at consolidating backing for the Ukombozi Alliance. Kalonzo's visit to Bondo follows a tour of Busia, where he criticized President William Ruto's administration on matters such as taxation, empowerment programs, and the housing levy.

The former Vice President has been emphasizing his long-standing alliance with Raila, capitalizing on their past presidential campaigns in 2013, 2017, and 2022. Despite the Supreme Court's affirmation of Ruto's 2022 victory, Kalonzo has echoed Uhuru Kenyatta's assertion that Raila had indeed clinched the election. The Bondo engagement is a key component of the opposition's strategy to forge a national coalition for the upcoming 2027 polls.
