KPT teliti semula syarikat pegangan universiti termasuk UiTM Holdings

Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT) has initiated a review and restructuring of government-linked university companies, including UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd, since last year, Education Minister Zambry Abd Kadir announced. The move comes as the government is no longer solely funding university expenses since 2017. Speaking to Bernama, Zambry mentioned that the ministry has requested a thorough examination of university-linked companies, with the first step being the assessment of existing holdings, including UiTM Holdings.

He also revealed that several investigations have been launched to review the restructuring of these holdings, such as UiTM Holdings. UiTM, a crucial public university, requires careful monitoring and preservation to prevent any negative elements from taking root, Zambry emphasized. The newly formed team includes corporate figures Nungsari Ahmad Radhi and Hamzah Kassim, as well as UiTM Supervisory Board Chairman Mohd Khamil Jamil and former Education Minister Idris Jusoh.

The ministry will continue its investigations, following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's request to investigate the management and affairs of UiTM Holdings amid the company's reported losses.
