KPT teliti semula syarikat pegangan universiti termasuk UiTM Holdings

Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT) has initiated an investigation and reevaluation of government-linked university corporations, including UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd, according to Education Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir. The move comes after the government ceased to fully finance universities since 2017. Zambry stated that the ministry has requested a comprehensive review of university holdings, noting that some holdings have been underperforming.

This first step has already been taken, with several reviews initiated, including UiTM Holdings. The minister, speaking to Bernama during the Malaysia-Asia Home Education Forum 2026 (MAHEF2026) in Kazakhstan, said that the investigation would identify successful corporate models to serve as examples for others. Regarding UiTM specifically, a new team has been formed to thoroughly examine the university's functioning, including its corporate holdings.

This team includes corporate figures Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, Hamzah Kassim, UiTM Board Chair Mohd Khamil Jamil, and former Education Minister Idris Jusoh. Zambry emphasized the importance of protecting UiTM as a crucial higher education institution and preventing any negative elements from affecting it. The ministry has confirmed that the announcement aligns with the ongoing KPT investigation.

UiTM Holdings had previously reported losses before tax payments amounting to approximately RM157 million for the financial years 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021.
