Families seek answers as 55 Malaysians remain missing in Nepal floods

Families of 55 Malaysians still missing after Nepal floods gathered at the Foreign Ministry’s Wisma Putra headquarters for a second briefing on the search operation. The meeting, attended by representatives from the Royal Malaysia Police, Social Welfare Department, National Disaster Management Agency, and Department of Chemistry, aimed to provide clearer information about the fate of the missing individuals.

However, only two immediate family representatives were granted entry, with other relatives waiting outside for updates. Family member Punitha Selvarajhan expressed hope for solid information on the search progress, emphasizing the need for concrete details after 33 days of uncertainty. Subramaniam Murugayah highlighted the challenge of understanding technical information, suggesting that future briefings should involve family members capable of handling the situation.

The families remain hopeful that the missing individuals are safe, including the possibility of being stranded at an undisclosed location. They are also awaiting updates on the missing persons' movements, particularly their status after crossing borders in Tibet and Nepal.
