This victory came after star Oregon quarterback Dante Moore suffered an alarming injury in the second quarter, which led to his ambulance ride and subsequent medical care.

Moore, a Heisman Trophy candidate and potential NFL draft prospect, was hit late by USC linebacker Desman Stephens, who was subsequently ejected for targeting. Raiders, a former Nebraska starter, wasted no time in responding, throwing a crucial 3-yard TD pass to Evan Stewart on his second play. He continued to shine in the second half, orchestrating four touchdown drives and contributing to Oregon's 270 yards of total offense.

Dierre Hill Jr. added to Oregon's dominance by rushing for two touchdowns after the halftime break. Despite a rocky start to the season, Oregon's strong performance, generating 504 total yards, marked a solid Big Ten opening.
