Leavitt’s accuracy and Kiffin’s 4th-down call ignite No. 10 LSU in a 35-6 win over No. 23 Texas A&M

Baton Rouge, La. (AP) — Sam Leavitt scored twice, including a 57-yard touchdown on a fourth-down pass from Lane Kiffin, as No. 10 LSU outplayed No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 in a Saturday night college football game.

Leavitt's precision in the air contributed to LSU's strong performance, as he completed 74% of his passes for 312 yards. This victory marked LSU's second consecutive win against Texas A&M.

Kiffin, who was visibly engaged in the play, executed a dramatic sledgehammer motion after Leavitt's pass was caught by Jackson Harris. The play put LSU ahead 21-3 in the third quarter, and the Aggies failed to score again throughout the remainder of the game.

Texas A&M's quarterback, Marcel Reed, struggled in his second appearance against LSU, completing only 10 of 26 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Reed also faced four sacks and an interception deep within A&M territory. The Aggies' offensive struggles continued as Reed was replaced by Brady Hart in the fourth quarter.

LSU's defensive line played a vital role in limiting Texas A&M's scoring opportunities, while defensive end Princewill Umanmielen contributed with seven sacks. However, LSU lost a key player when linebacker Whit Weeks left the game with an apparent ankle injury.

Leavitt's impressive performance, completing 17 of 23 passes (74%), solidified LSU's lead, which reached 35-6 by the game's end. The Tigers dominated the matchup, showcasing their offensive and defensive prowess against a struggling Texas A&M team.
