BN chairman Zahid says coalition will end ties with Pakatan once Parliament dissolves

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has stated that his coalition will end ties with Pakatan Harapan (PH) once the current Parliament is dissolved, according to a report from The Star. Speaking at the 18th annual general assembly of the Malaysian Makkal Sakti Party in Kuala Lumpur, Zahid made the promise in his opening address, signaling a potential rift between the two sides in the Unity Government.

The Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan are currently in a governing coalition, but tensions have reportedly been high, particularly in the recent state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan. Makkal Sakti Malaysia president Datuk Seri RS Thanenthiran urged Zahid to separate the Barisan Nasional from the Madani Government as soon as possible, citing internal pressure and recent arrests and investigations of several Umno leaders.

Some of Zahid's comments, made during public events, have been interpreted as critical of Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Pakatan Harapan. Still, Zahid has maintained that Umno remains committed to the alliance with PH until the end of the term.
