BN chairman Zahid says coalition will end ties with Pakatan once Parliament dissolves

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi declared today his coalition has no intention of maintaining ties with Pakatan Harapan (PH) as relations between the two parties have reached their lowest point. During the 18th annual general assembly of the Malaysian Makkal Sakti Party, Zahid stated that the BN would sever all political cooperation with PH as soon as Parliament is dissolved, in response to calls for the Unity Government to cease all forms of collaboration between the two factions.

"Once the current Parliament is dissolved, we will no longer be part of that government," Zahid declared, according to The Star. The relationship between BN and PH has been strained, particularly due to clashes at the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, and leaders from both sides have accused each other of wrongdoing. At the same event, Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia president Datuk Seri RS Thanenthiran urged Zahid to remove the BN from the Unity government as soon as possible, alleging that several Umno leaders have been subjected to arrests and investigations, suggesting an attempt to pressure the coalition into giving up.
