Police arrest three over alleged gun fabrication, rape of mentally unstable woman in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects over allegations of illegally possessing and fabricating firearms in Misau Local Government Area. A 26-year-old man, Lukman Alhaji Nasiru, was also arrested for allegedly raping a 50-year-old mentally ill woman in Gamawa LGA. The arrests were made as part of the command's efforts to combat illegal arms proliferation and sexual offences.

Three suspects - Abubakar Ahmad, alias Tino, 30, Tijjani Yakubu, 35, and Bappah Kawu, 48 - were taken into custody. Kawu was found guilty of fabricating and selling a pistol to Yakubu for N30,000, and two locally fabricated dane guns were recovered from his workshop. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

A separate incident in Gamawa involved the arrest of Lukman Alhaji Nasiru for allegedly raping a mentally ill woman. The victim's younger brother reported the incident, and both Nasiru and the victim were taken to the General Hospital for medical examination. The police are continuing their investigation into the alleged rape. Police Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu has warned that the command will not tolerate illegal firearms or sexual offenses, urging residents to provide credible information.
