Toronto police to hold update after finding 2 bodies in burnt-out vehicles

Toronto police are set to provide an update on Friday regarding the discovery of two bodies inside burnt-out vehicles. Emergency crews found the first body on Monday night, followed by another around the same time on Tuesday morning. Both incidents occurred within hours of each other.

The first body was discovered at approximately 11:24 p.m. in a hydro field on Reesor Road, near Steeles Avenue East. When emergency crews arrived, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames and a deceased individual inside. Around 12:55 a.m., police were dispatched to James Garden Park in Etobicoke in response to reports of a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival, smoke was observed emanating from the park, and there were accounts of an explosion-like sound. A body was subsequently found inside the car.

At this stage, police have not determined whether the two incidents are connected. The causes of death for both individuals remain unknown. Detective Superintendent Henri Marsman from the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit is scheduled to address reporters at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
