NDC chieftain Galadima says Ekiti ex-gov, Fayemi, seven others working to defeat Tinubu

Alhaji Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has claimed that former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, along with seven other opposition candidates, are working together to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Galadima made the allegation during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today.

He expressed confidence in the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, winning the election if it is free and fair. Galadima stated that the group of seven opposition candidates, coordinated by Governor Fayemi, are making progress in their efforts to defeat Tinubu. When asked about their objectives, Galadima bluntly said, "To defeat Tinubu."

A media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, posted a clip of the interview and expressed skepticism until Fayemi debunks the claim. Formerly a founding father of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi has often criticized the ruling party. In March 2026, the National Secretary of the APC urged Fayemi to resign from the party if he no longer believed in its ideals, warning that disciplinary action could be taken against him for alleged anti-party activities.
