KTMB apologises after absent staff strands 25 riders at Anak Bukit station

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has expressed regret to passengers impacted by a situation at Anak Bukit Station, where the main gate failed to open at the scheduled time. Initial investigations revealed that the station was set to commence operations at 5.30 am, but the designated staff member failed to show up for work due to illness.

As the gate remained locked at approximately 5.55 am, the on-duty officer attempted to reach the affected employee without success. In response, a counter clerk from a neighboring station, who was scheduled to work at 7 am, was dispatched to Anak Bukit Station earlier than planned. This replacement staff arrived at 6.30 am and successfully opened the main gate.

Preliminary findings indicate that around 25 passengers missed two KTM Komuter services, Train 2901 departing at 5.58 am and Train 2903 leaving at 6.18 am. KTMB emphasized that the incident was taken seriously and is undergoing further investigation per established protocols, while reiterating that access to the station according to operating hours and passenger safety remain its top priorities.
