KTMB apologises for locked gate incident at Anak Bukit station

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian railway company, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), has expressed regret to passengers who were impacted by an incident at Anak Bukit station this morning. According to initial findings, the main gate at the station failed to open at the scheduled time of 5.30am, as the scheduled staff member did not arrive for work due to health concerns.

Upon learning at approximately 5.55am that the gate remained locked, the duty officer attempted to reach out to the absent staff but was unable to do so. To resolve the issue swiftly, a clerk from a neighbouring station, who was scheduled to start work at 7am, was instructed to arrive at Anak Bukit station earlier. This replacement staff successfully opened the main gate at 6.30am, allowing passengers to pass through.

Preliminary checks revealed that around 25 passengers were affected, missing two KTM Komuter services - Train 2901 and Train 2903. These trains were set to depart Anak Bukit station at 5.58am and 6.18am, respectively. KTMB emphasized the seriousness of the incident and is currently conducting a thorough investigation as per standard procedures. The company reiterated its commitment to ensuring that stations open at proper hours and to maintaining passenger safety and comfort as top priorities.
