El-Rufai paying the price for his misgovernance — Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has criticized the detention of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, linking it to El-Rufai's record of misgovernance during his tenure from 2015 to 2023. Sani argued that El-Rufai is now facing the consequences of his decisions while in office, stating that public office is a temporary opportunity.

He also noted that people often lose friends and relationships when they are no longer in positions of influence, a sentiment he expressed firsthand after his own four-year prison term. Sani accused El-Rufai's government of "misgovernance, irresponsible leadership, and the use of statecraft to attack and jail opponents," and highlighted the inconsistency in El-Rufai's stance on dealing with banditry, citing reports of negotiations with bandits during his time in office.
