Don’t blame previous govt for Negeri Sembilan crisis, Aminuddin tells Ismail

Former Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Aminuddin Harun has criticized his successor Ismail Lasim for blaming the previous administration for the ongoing crisis involving the state's customary and royal institutions. Aminuddin urged Ismail to inform the public which constitutional provision the previous administration allegedly violated.

Ismail had stated that the crisis was inherited from the previous state government and alleged that Aminuddin failed to fulfill his responsibilities under the state's constitution. However, Aminuddin responded that the public should be provided with clear and verifiable facts regarding the alleged violation of which constitutional provision and when.

Aminuddin also brought up a proclamation dated April 19, which was submitted to him for signing on April 20 while he was still the Chief Minister. He claimed that he decided not to sign the document due to serious questions surrounding its process, as Article 10 of the state constitution governs the suspension or removal of the Yang Dipertuan Besar and requires a full and complete inquiry.

Furthermore, Aminuddin questioned why Ismail signed the document when he had earlier refused to do so, pointing out that this raises a significant issue about the process and validity of the proclamation. The Attorney-General's Chambers had also determined that the April 19 proclamation was invalid due to non-compliance with mandatory requirements under Article 10, and the menteri besar and state executive council did not have the unilateral power to declare the office of the Yang Dipertuan Besar vacant.
