Don’t blame previous govt for Negeri Sembilan crisis, Aminuddin tells Ismail

Former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun rebuked his successor Ismail Lasim for blaming the previous administration for the ongoing crisis involving the state's customary and royal institutions. Ismail claimed the crisis was inherited from the previous government, alleging Aminuddin failed to fulfill his responsibilities under the state's constitution.

Aminuddin stated the public should be informed which constitutional provision the prior administration allegedly violated, and he was prepared to answer questions about his actions and decisions. Aminuddin raised concerns about a proclamation dated April 19, presented for his signature on April 20, questioning the process and validity of the document.

He emphasized the importance of due process and a full inquiry, pointing to Article 10 of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959, which governs the suspension or removal of the Yang Dipertuan Besar. Aminuddin expressed doubts about the completeness and validity of the process, stating he would not sign the proclamation due to serious questions.

Ismail, familiar with legal matters, must clarify why he signed the document despite initial opposition, and why it remains unsigned despite his signature. The disagreement over Article 10's requirements and procedures remains a contentious issue, with the Attorney-General's Chambers invalidating the proclamation for non-compliance with mandatory provisions.
