Zelensky: U.S. pushing energy ceasefire, trilateral talks with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed in an interview with Axios that the United States is advocating for three key actions to de-escalate the conflict in Ukraine and resume dialogue with Russia. These steps include a ceasefire on energy infrastructure, reopening the Black Sea grain corridor, and a trilateral meeting involving the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine.

The urgency of these proposals stems from the recent spike in energy prices due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian diesel fuel. While the energy ceasefire remains a contentious issue, with Russia's willingness to agree uncertain, Zelensky expressed readiness to accede to the proposal. The U.S. also aims to restart negotiations on reopening the Black Sea grain corridor and convene a trilateral meeting between the three nations, potentially in Abu Dhabi or through technical discussions.

The Ukrainian president emphasized the importance of achieving progress before winter, stating that Kyiv is willing to engage in talks regardless of the U.S. political calendar.
