S. Korea wins silver in mixed team skeet shooting

On Thursday, South Korea claimed silver in the mixed team skeet shooting event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking the nation's inaugural shotgun medal in the ongoing competition. The South Korean duo of Lee Jong-jun and Jang Kook-hee achieved 51 points, just one point shy of the world record set by China's Lyu Jianlin and Jiang Yiting at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, a 25-kilometer stretch east of Nagoya. India secured the bronze with 44 points.

This milestone marked the fifth day of shooting competitions at the Asian Games. Prior to this event, South Korea had previously secured five medals in Toyota, with two coming from pistol events and three from rifle events. Skeet shooting involves athletes aiming at unglazed clay discs launched from two distinct structures, a high house on the left and a low house on the right.

In the mixed team competition, each shooter on the team fires at four targets, resulting in eight shots per series, with each successful shot earning a point.

During the four-team final, Qatar was eliminated early after the third series of shots with 18 points. China led the competition at that point.
