S. Korea wins silver in mixed team skeet shooting

NAGOYA, Japan — South Korea secured a silver medal in the mixed team skeet shooting event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking their first shotgun medal in the ongoing competition. The Korean duo, comprising Lee Jong-jun and Jang Kook-hee, achieved a score of 51 points, one point shy of the world record set by Chinese shooters Lyu Jianlin and Jiang Yiting at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, located 25 kilometers east of Nagoya.

India claimed the bronze medal with 44 points. This marked the fifth day of shooting events at the Asian Games. Prior to this, South Korea had already won five medals in Toyota, including two from pistol and three from rifle events. Skeet shooting involves athletes firing at unglazed clay discs launched from two separate structures, the high house on the left and the low house on the right.

In the mixed team competition, each shooter fires at four targets, resulting in eight shots per series, with each successful shot earning one point. In the final four-team competition, Qatar was eliminated after the third series with 18 points, placing China in the lead at that time.
