Kwara PDP names Gambari campaign DG in Kwara

The Kwara State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has selected Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari to serve as Director-General of its campaign organization for the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial election. Gambari, who is the son of former President Muhammadu Buhari's Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, will oversee the campaign structure for the party's gubernatorial candidate, Suleiman Bolakale Kawu.

This appointment was made following a larger meeting of the party leadership, chaired by the state chairman, Isa Bawa Adamu.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the PDP's state publicity secretary, Olusegun Adewara, revealed that Gambari had previously contested the PDP's 2026 gubernatorial primary. He was one of the leading candidates in that contest, which was ultimately won by Kawu. There were rumors following the primary suggesting that Gambari was unhappy with the process, but these reports were later disproven.

Instead of departing from the party after the primary, Gambari continued to engage in its political activities. The PDP highlighted his expertise in international law, finance, and real estate, among other fields, as assets that will prove valuable in managing a campaign that will involve various sectors of the state. The appointment of Gambari is seen as a significant step in the party's preparations for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
