Kwara: PDP appoints OBG as campaign DG for 2027 governorship election

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has chosen Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari, an international lawyer and entrepreneur, as the Director-General of the party's Campaign Organisation for the 2027 governorship election. This decision was made unanimously at a meeting attended by the party's leadership and the gubernatorial candidate, Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka.

In a statement released in Ilorin, the PDP highlighted Gambari's extensive professional background, organizational skills, understanding of the political climate, and strong connections with young voters across the state. Gambari, who is a member of the Ilorin Emirate royal family, has a diverse educational and career background.

He holds degrees from A.B.U. Staff School, Zaria; the Nigerian Military School; and Fordham University School of Law, New York. He worked for Merrill Lynch, the United Nations, and the international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett before launching his own legal practice.

Gambari has also been active in business ventures in real estate, energy, and agriculture, and has advised companies on international expansion. He established the Nigerian Youth Organization in New York in the late 1990s and the OBG Foundation to support youth empowerment, education, and entrepreneurship. Gambari previously ran for a House of Representatives seat in 2018 and is now a prominent figure in the party's political activities.

His appointment is seen as a strategic move to unify the party's campaign efforts and leverage his diverse skills for the upcoming election.
