Trump says 'artificial' makes AI sound fake, renames it 'super intelligence'

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly that the United States will officially rename artificial intelligence to super intelligence, or SI. Trump explained that calling the technology artificial makes it sound fake, when in reality it is amazing. He stated that all U.S. government documents and hopefully the world's will be updated to use the term super intelligence instead of artificial intelligence.

The change in name came after two social media polls which showed that the majority of people prefer the term super intelligence over other options like superior intelligence and extreme intelligence. Trump also emphasized that the U.S. is leading in the AI race over China and that the government will closely monitor the technology, but not hinder its growth.

However, it is unclear when the switch to SI will take place and how it will be implemented, as Trump himself was unsure about his power to make such a change. The term superintelligence already has a different meaning in AI research, referring to hypothetical future systems that outperform humans in most tasks.
