Suk Zafir Ibrahim, the Chief Secretary of the Selangor state government, has confirmed that he is continuing with his duties as usual under the guidance of the Chief Secretary to the National Government, Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and the Attorney-General's Chambers. Both Zafir and Muzalmah Mustapha Kamal, the State Law Advisor, stated that they will continue to serve and fulfill their duties in Selangor, without being hindered by official directives beyond the media statements released by the Chief Minister.

Muzalmah echoed the same commitment and attended her duties at the State Government Office as usual. "Yes, I am working as usual and have not been prevented from entering the office, as long as the Attorney-General's Chambers directs me to continue working here, I will perform my duties as usual, and I also do not accept official letters regarding suspension of duties," they affirmed.

On Friday, the Special Session of the State Executive Council (Exco) decided to suspend the duties of Zafir and Muzalmah jointly. The Chief Minister, Ismail Lasim, announced that State Financial Officer Masri Razali would take over the duties of Zafir until a new appointee is designated by the Chief Secretary, while Advocates Fahmi Adilah and Muzalmah will provide legal advice until a new Law Advisor is appointed by the Attorney-General's Chambers.

However, the Attorney-General's Chambers clarified in a statement that the Exco does not have legal authority to suspend the duties of the State Secretary and State Law Advisor. They emphasized that matters related to the appointment of State Secretaries and Law Advisors fall under the jurisdiction of the Public Service Commission and the Legal Services and Law Reform Commission, as stipulated in Article 37 of the Selangor State Constitution (UUTKNS) 1959.
