RoS asks PN to explain why it should not be deregistered

Yesterday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) received a notice from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) requesting an explanation as to why the coalition should not be deregistered within 30 days. PN's chairman and secretary-general, along with all PN component parties, were informed about the notice on the same day. The source confirmed this information to Berita Harian, although the specific recipient of the RoS notice is uncertain. The secretary-general of PN is expected to issue a statement regarding the matter, as quoted by BH.

The notice also instructs several PN component parties to refrain from using the coalition's logo in any activities until the RoS reaches a final decision. The New Straits Times has reached out to the RoS for an official response, but an official statement is pending. It is known that the RoS had received a complaint from Bersatu on August 11, alleging that Bersatu was not involved in a PN Supreme Council meeting held on July 16 and questioning PN's membership status within the coalition.

Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin urged the RoS to make a prompt decision on the complaint, which also alleged that PN leaders had violated eight provisions. Muhyiddin claimed that Bersatu had raised eight key matters, asserting that PN leaders had disregarded or breached them. This development has been reported by the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
