SPR: Postal voting applications for Melaka polls open today

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — The application period for postal voting in the 16th Melaka State Election has commenced today. According to Election Commission secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus, voters can submit their requests online through the MySPR portal. The deadline for submissions will be revealed at a later date. Eligible voters who wish to vote by mail must first register for or possess a MySPR account.

Applicants are divided into three categories: Category 1A includes police and military personnel, election officials, EC members and staff, as well as media personnel. Category 1B is for Malaysians living abroad, while Category 1C is for agencies or organizations. For additional inquiries, individuals may call the hotline at 03-88927080 or email upup@spr.gov.my.

On the same day the Melaka State Legislative Assembly was dissolved, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced the dissolution. The move was approved by Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam to prepare for the upcoming 16th state election.
