Melaka polls: PH to announce candidates one to two weeks before nomination

ALOR GAJAH: The Prime Minister's political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, has revealed that Pakatan Harapan plans to designate its candidates for the upcoming Melaka state election one to two weeks prior to the nomination date. According to Azman, this decision is aimed at enabling the party to initiate preparations well in advance of the set timeline.

He shared this information with reporters following a visit to beneficiaries of the Ziarah Kasih programme in the Kuala Linggi state constituency. Azman emphasized that the choice of candidates will be made by the party's leadership, taking into account suggestions from various party divisions, state leaders, and the grassroots level, before the final decision is reached.

Earlier in the day, Azman had met with seven recipients of the Ziarah Kasih programme, including a single mother caring for two children who has been unable to work since a road accident. The programme also provided financial assistance from the Prime Minister's Department, along with ongoing support such as wheelchairs or other necessary aid for eligible individuals.

Azman stated that the Ziarah Kasih programme is one of the initiatives managed by the Political Secretary's Office and will be expanded to other areas in Melaka, including the Jasin parliamentary constituency next week.
