On September 9th, the Perak Chief Minister Ismail Lasim, along with ex-co member Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar, had scheduled a meeting with the aim of mingling and getting to know each other. However, this gathering was canceled due to safety concerns, according to Sinar Harian's sources. Initially, the meeting was intended to be a casual meeting and a chance for them to get acquainted, including the expected presence of the fourth heir, Tunku Besar Tampin, and Sungai Ujong Shahbandar.

The development came at a time when Perak was facing constitutional crisis due to the question of the legitimacy of the Yang Dipertuan Besar and the ex-co lineup. On September 17th, the State Attorney General (AGC) rejected a statement purportedly intended to remove Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as the state's ruler, and the announcement was followed by a meeting of the State Council that endorsed the same statement.

The AGC said the statement was invalid and the Chief Minister and ex-co members had no power to remove the state government. On September 20th, Tuanku Muhriz canceled the nomination of 10 ex-co members for allegedly violating their oath of office. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim then met with Tuanku Muhriz the following day.
