Ladakh revises admission guidelines for MBBS, BDS seats under Central pool

Leh: The Ladakh administration has introduced revised guidelines for MBBS and BDS admissions under the Central pool, effective from the academic year 2026-27. This change, approved by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, eliminates the previously used category-wise roster system and replaces it with a single merit list, according to an official spokesman.

The move follows the formation of seven new districts within the Union Territory of Ladakh. Health & Medical Education Department, Ladakh, has determined to amend the existing guidelines, emphasizing that the admission process will be strictly based on NEET merit and rankings, disregarding domicile district, sex, or reserved/unreserved status.

Under the new system, the seven MBBS seats will be distributed among various medical colleges, including Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi; LLRM Medical College, Meerut; and Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, among others. The two BDS seats will be allocated to KG Dental College, Lucknow; and Government Dental College, Indore.

Candidates with a valid NEET ranking will have a seven-day window to apply for these seats through the official Ladakh NIC portal.
