Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 15 years in prison for 2006 sex crime in New York

Harvey Weinstein, the once-powerful Hollywood producer, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a former TV production assistant named Miriam Haley in 2006. This comes six years after a retrial found him guilty of the crime, overturning a previous 2013 conviction that was later erased by New York's highest court due to prejudiced testimony from other alleged victims.

Weinstein, 74, is already serving a portion of his sentence as he has been in the hospital multiple times due to various health issues, including blood cancer, heart failure, and kidney problems. During the sentencing, Weinstein apologized to Haley but maintained his innocence, stating he will be proven innocent.
