Dolly Parton’s estate in feud with nephew over alleged threats

Dolly Parton's death has triggered a legal battle involving her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who was once head of security for her estate. Seaver, the son of Parton's sister Cassie, was not only her nephew but also a security professional who had worked for her for over two decades. Following her demise on August 25, Seaver and his security companies were removed from their roles at Parton's properties, leading to a restraining order request by her estate.

The termination notice stated that Seaver's personal interest in the trust remained intact, yet he and his team expressed dismay at the sudden and unexplained actions taken against them. The estate, managed by her longtime manager Danny Nozell through She’s Alive, sought a restraining order, alleging that Seaver initiated a campaign of threats, intimidation, and coercion.

The court documents stated that Seaver allegedly made threats to harm Parton's business interests and personal brand. Parton’s estate claims that Seaver demanded money and threatened the security team’s access, while Seaver maintains his innocence and asserts that he was removed unexpectedly by those acting in bad faith to profit from Parton's legacy.

The $450 million estate, built through music, songwriting, business interests, and Dollywood, has further fueled public interest in understanding the wealth distribution. Currently, the dispute revolves around Seaver's removal from the security role and allegations of threats and coercion, rather than a direct inheritance battle.

The court is currently determining whether the protective measures requested by the estate will be maintained as the legal case proceeds.
