Delta boosts Los Angeles flights with 200 departures

Delta Air Lines has announced plans to significantly boost its flight operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as part of its summer 2027 schedule. The airline aims to increase daily departures to over 200 during the peak season, according to a statement provided to The PUNCH.

This expansion could provide Nigerian travelers with more options when flying to California, other parts of the U.S. West Coast, and destinations across Asia and the Pacific. Delta already connects Nigeria to the United States via its nonstop Lagos-Atlanta service. Passengers can then connect to Delta's extensive network of U.S. destinations from Atlanta.

Los Angeles World Airports' Chief Revenue and Experience Officer, Courtney Moore, emphasized the city's role as a global gateway, stating, "Los Angeles shapes, transforms, and influences the world, and LAX is proud to be the gateway connecting travellers to our city."

Delta highlights that the increased connectivity will enhance Los Angeles as a global travel destination. The airline currently serves 25 international destinations from LAX, including cities in the South Pacific and Asia, offering Nigerian passengers a wider range of options upon arrival in the United States.

For premium travelers, Delta One customers enjoy dedicated check-in facilities, private TSA security screening, access to Delta One Lounges, and an expanded wine program featuring selections from California and international wineries. Additionally, Delta plans to open another Delta Sky Club at LAX in 2027, further enhancing the premium travel experience.

The airline has invested $2.3 billion in its Sky Way project at LAX, which aims to improve airport facilities and ease movement through the terminal. This investment is part of Delta's broader strategy to strengthen its U.S. network amidst changing international and domestic travel demand. The planned LAX expansion is expected to make the airport an increasingly vital hub for global travel.
