Delta boosts Los Angeles flights with 200 departures

Delta Air Lines is expanding its operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for the summer 2027 season, with plans to offer more than 200 daily departures. This growth could benefit Nigerian travelers looking for options to reach California, the rest of the U.S. West Coast, and destinations across Asia and the Pacific. Delta currently connects Nigeria to the United States via its nonstop Lagos-Atlanta service, with passengers able to transfer to LAX from there.

Los Angeles World Airports' Chief Revenue and Experience Officer, Courtney Moore, highlighted how LAX serves as a gateway connecting travelers to the city. Delta CEO Eddie Gamal added that the airline's increasing presence at LAX provides more connectivity options for passengers heading west, particularly for those traveling from Nigeria. The airline's $2.3 billion investment in its Sky Way project at LAX aims to improve movement through the airport and enhance facilities for passengers.

For premium travelers, Delta One customers have dedicated check-in facilities, private TSA security screening, and access to Delta One Lounges. Additionally, the airline plans to open another Delta Sky Club at LAX in 2027. Premium cabins will feature an expanded wine program, including selections from California and international wineries, along with fast, free Wi-Fi and Delta Sync entertainment.

The planned LAX expansion is part of Delta's broader investment in its U.S. network as travel demand shifts internationally and domestically.
