LS Cable & System Targets European Offshore Wind Market with End-to-End Subsea Cable Solutions

LS Cable & System is expanding its presence in Europe's offshore wind market by offering comprehensive end-to-end subsea cable solutions, including installation, construction, and maintenance services. The Korean company will showcase its offerings at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, a major wind energy trade show held in Hamburg, Germany, from September 22 to 25.

At the exhibition, LS Cable & System will present a portfolio of medium-voltage and high-voltage subsea cables designed to connect offshore wind turbines with onshore power grids, with a focus on high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology. The company's 525-kV, 80-degree Celsius-class HVDC subsea cable, which can increase transmission capacity by up to 25%, is based on technology commercially deployed at the 500-kV level.

LS Cable & System is also partnering with LS Marine Solution to strengthen its project execution capabilities, including the construction of a 13,000-ton-class large-scale HVDC cable-laying vessel, which is expected to enter service in 2028. The company is emphasizing low-carbon cable solutions to meet Europe's stringent environmental requirements, using recycled copper and low-carbon and recycled aluminum in its products.

Europe is a key market for LS Cable & System, as governments and utilities accelerate offshore wind development and expand transmission infrastructure, prompting the company to combine HVDC technology with subsea installation and maintenance capabilities.
