Series of massive explosions rock Syria's Aleppo

Syria experienced a series of devastating explosions overnight near Aleppo. A massive fireball illuminated the night sky as rockets and projectiles scattered across surrounding villages. The initial blast occurred at an ammunition depot early Monday, followed by a chain of explosions that rattled the region. Video footage captured a towering smoke column and streaks of light in the night sky. Secondary detonations and projectiles were also observed.

Initial reports indicated four people were injured, though civil defense teams could not access the site due to ongoing explosions. Roads, including the Aleppo-Damascus highway, were closed as a precaution. The cause of the explosions remains unknown, but security expert Brig Gen Mohammad Al Baqaei suggested the blasts were likely the result of external intervention.

He pointed to the scale of the explosions and the presence of "dozens" as evidence of deliberate action. He speculated on potential culprits, including sabotage, planted explosives, or remnants from previous conflicts, but noted the possibility of unidentified aircraft, possibly Israeli, targeting the depot.

The explosions come amid a series of similar incidents targeting Syrian military weapons sites. In recent weeks, several explosions have rocked arms depots in Idlib and Deir Ezzor, resulting in dozens of casualties. Analysts have raised concerns over the string of incidents, questioning whether the repeated explosions could be coincidence or indicative of a larger pattern of targeted attacks.
