Powerful explosions at Syrian army site near Aleppo injure at least four

Powerful explosions shook a weapons depot near Aleppo, Syria, on Monday, injuring at least four people, according to state media. The Syrian army site, located in the vicinity of the town of al-Eis, south of Aleppo, was the location of the blasts, reported the state-run SANA news agency. The cause of the explosions remains unclear.

Civil defence official Faisal Mohammad Ali confirmed that rescuers had evacuated four injured individuals from the site. Reports from Al Jazeera's Obaida Hitto stated that the initial explosion was followed by a series of blasts, with the sound of the explosions audible from several kilometers away. Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib advised residents to avoid the area, stating that hospitals, ambulance services, and emergency teams are on high alert.

The roads leading to the site were closed to ensure public safety. A Hamdaniyeh resident reported hearing a "huge explosion" and seeing large flames in the distance upon looking out their roof. Syria, still recovering from a civil war that ended more than a decade ago, has experienced several explosions of unknown origin in recent months. A previous explosion at a military site in Deir Az Zor on Friday killed 11 people.
