Negeri Sembilan exco member confirms getting palace dismissal letter

On Friday, five local representatives were summoned to appear at the Sultan's Palace in Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah. Four members of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and one member from Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Wawasan were cited for speculation regarding the appointment of new Negeri Sembilan exco members. This followed Sultan of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir's decision to cancel the appointment of 10 exco members yesterday.

Kosmo cites four BN members - Saiful Yazan Sulaiman (Johol), Sufian Maradzi (Seri Menanti), and Zaidy Abdul Kadir (Jeram Padang) - and one MCA representative, Koh Kim Swee, from Repah. The related Wawasan representative is Gemas two-term MP Ridzuan Ahmad. The report, citing sources, also mentions that the five MPs were called to appear at the Sultan's Palace on Friday.

Yesterday, the palace announced that Tuanku Muhriz had decided to remove 10 exco members for violating their oath and loyalty pledge to the Sultan on August 7. Of these, seven were from Umno, with one each from MCA, Wawasan, and PAS. Under the State Constitution of Negeri Sembilan, the Chief Minister and exco members hold their positions by royal permission.

Last week, the exco members released a joint statement that was alleged to support Tuanku Muhriz's removal as Sultan. Chief Minister Ismail Lasim endorsed the statement the following day. The State Law and Order Committee (DKU) of Negeri Sembilan rejected the statement as unchartered and invalid, while also asserting that Tuanku Muhriz remained the head of the state government.

The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) also stated that the statement had no legal effect as the Chief Minister and exco members do not have the power to remove a state government official.
