Meet the Googlebook — I tried Google's new answer to the MacBook that combines ChromeOS with Android, and this could be the start of something big

Google has unveiled its latest innovation, Googlebook, a hybrid device that blends ChromeOS and Android into a single platform. At the unveiling event, Sameer Samat, the President of Android Ecosystem at Google, presented five Googlebooks from partner brands Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Dell, and HP. These laptops and tablets come in various sizes and configurations, ranging from ultra-lights to workhorses, and support a range of CPUs, including Intel Core Ultra, Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, and MediaTek.

Each device boasts unique features, such as facial recognition, fingerprint readers, and a multi-colored Glowbar that indicates system status. The Googlebook OS promises to deliver native Gemini support for local AI, exceptional battery life, and seamless integration between Android apps and desktop-level applications. Users can expect unified messaging capabilities, allowing them to start an email on their Android phone and continue it on their laptop.

Googlebooks are set to launch on October 5, with prices starting at $899, targeting a premium market segment and aiming to provide a powerful and visually appealing alternative to Apple's MacBook Neo.
