Ghana and Panama sign MoU to deepen bilateral political consultations and cooperation

Ghana and Panama have formalized their bilateral political consultations through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This significant diplomatic move was announced by Ghana's Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Facebook. The MoU was signed by Ablakwa and his Panamanian counterpart, Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez, during the UN General Assembly in New York.

The primary focus of this agreement is to strengthen cooperation between the two nations, with particular emphasis on maritime affairs, cocoa production, and enhanced trade. Additionally, the two countries are set to explore mutual technical assistance in the extractive sector through this framework.

Beyond the diplomatic implications, the MoU also serves as a platform for Ghana and Panama to mend their relationship following Ghana's remarkable victory in the World Cup against Panama. This sports-related aspect adds a unique and positive dimension to the diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
