Amirudin: PH Plus in Melaka more electoral pact than coalition given short preparation window

Alor Gajah, on September 21, saw Pakatan Harapan (PH) explain the PH Plus cooperation for the Melaka state election as more of an electoral understanding rather than a new political coalition, due to the limited preparation window. PH election director Amirudin Shari stated that it was too early to form a new coalition, but an understanding for elections could still be reached.

He told reporters that a political understanding was more appropriate given the short time for preparations. Amirudin was joined at the launch of the Masjid Tanah PKR election machinery in Kuala Sungai Baru by the Prime Minister's political secretary, Azman Abidin, and acting Melaka PKR State Leadership Council chairman, Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

PH's discussions on the matter were ongoing at the state level, with the need for further details before referring the issue to PH's central leadership. If the negotiations result in a suitable outcome, PH would consider the form of cooperation. PH also seeks confirmation from Barisan Nasional (BN) on its willingness to cooperate, as no progress has been made in meetings between the two coalitions.

Amirudin mentioned that PH would proceed without BN if they were uninterested, and that PH was prepared for different scenarios, including contesting alone, forming a new alignment, or cooperating with Umno/BN.
