Amirudin: PH Plus in Melaka more electoral pact than coalition given short preparation window

Alor Gajah, Sept 21 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) considers the PH Plus collaboration for the Melaka state election to be a more fitting electoral agreement than a fresh political coalition due to the rapidly diminishing preparation window, according to election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. The limited time available does not permit the formation of a new coalition, but an understanding for electoral purposes could still be achieved, Shari stated at the launch of the Masjid Tanah PKR election machinery in Kuala Sungai Baru.

The talks on the matter are still at the state level, and Shari needs additional details on the negotiations' outcome before presenting it to the PH leadership at the central level. If the negotiations align with PH's needs and meet the present requirements, PH might consider the cooperation. PH also seeks clarification from the Barisan Nasional (BN) on its willingness to cooperate, as no progress has been made in arranging a meeting between the two coalitions.

While PH has no issue if BN is not interested, it wishes for BN to express its stance so PH can make preparations for the forthcoming Melaka state election. Shari emphasized that PH is ready for various outcomes, including contesting alone, forming a new alliance, or cooperating with Umno/BN. PH will not simply wait for developments in the negotiations; it is prepared for all possible scenarios.
