앤트로픽, ‘속도 조절’ 외치더니…오픈AI 추격에 새 모델 출시 검토

Antropic, the company that first proposed the theory of AI development speed control, is reportedly beginning to review the development of its next-generation AI model in response to OpenAI's successful release of its new 'Astra' model. The timing of this move comes as the company prepares for its IPO at the end of the year and seeks to address investors' concerns while maintaining its share of the B2B AI market.

According to Reuters, Antropic started considering a follow-up model after OpenAI's 'Astra' achieved significant market traction. Industry sources indicate that Antropic is currently conducting safety evaluations on the new model and navigating the trade-off between investing in new models and improving existing ones in terms of profitability.

Earlier this month, Antropic CEO Dario Amodei suggested slowing down AI model development due to safety concerns. However, the company has also started reviewing the release of its next model amid growing fears of being outpaced in the competitive market. As Antropic has traditionally been a leader in the B2B AI market, the recent surge in OpenAI's aggressive pursuit has led many to believe that the company's dominance in this sector could be threatened for the first time in two and a half years.

Antropic investors are closely monitoring OpenAI's performance in this market segment, but there is a perspective that OpenAI's lead might not be sustainable in the short term. Market leader changes with the introduction of new models by major AI developers, such as Antropic, OpenAI, and Google, suggest that OpenAI's dominance could also be temporary.

Alongside this, AI companies competing with OpenAI, including Chinese open-source AI developers, face the challenge of generating stable cash flows sooner. Antropic declined to comment on this latest report.
