The White House Science and Technology Advisory Council member recently stated that the American government possesses numerous tools to handle AI-related issues. Michael Kratsios, the director of the White House Science and Technology Policy Institute, appeared on Fox News Sunday to discuss this matter. He emphasized that, "the core message to always remember is that when AI-related problems arise, the American government has many tools to respond, and we have used such tools in the past."

Furthermore, Kratsios mentioned that last summer, a leading AI developer released a new model, and the U.S. government received credible evidence of several cybersecurity problems with that model. The company suspended the model until the security issues were resolved. Kratsios highlighted that there is no shortage of means to address AI risks, stating, "we do have the means to achieve this (preventing AI risks)."

He opposed the notion that the government should control the speed of technological development, contrasting with recent comments from AI industry leaders. Kratsios advised developers and executives to stop developing unsafe technology if they believe it poses risks to society. However, he noted that it's crucial for the U.S. to engage in productive dialogue with China regarding AI competition and risk mitigation.

U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang to discuss these issues on June 24.
